Since its foundation in May 2023, OPWF has been combating Parkinson’s through innovative exercise, community connection, and unwavering hope. We currently serve approximately 60 warriors each week - and with your help, we can serve even more.

We are the Oregon Parkinson's Warriors Foundation

Empowering Movement & Transforming Lives:

In Lane County, 1 in every 318 residents lives with Parkinson's disease—a progressive neurological disorder that impacts daily life for thousands of individuals and their families. Recognizing this critical community need, the Oregon Parkinson's Warriors Foundation (OPWF) emerged in May 2023 with a bold mission: to transform how those with Parkinson's maintain mobility, strength, and hope.

Since its foundation, OPWF has become a lifeline for the local Parkinson's community, serving approximately 60 individuals each week through specialized exercise programs designed to enhance neuroplasticity and physical strength. Our research-based program combines group classes including contact-free boxing, and fostering a supportive environment for our warriors and their families.

Your involvement can be truly transformative. With the support of our incredible community and generous donors, we raised $140,000 by August 2024 and successfully opened Eugene’s first Parkinson's-dedicated gym. Whether through volunteering, donating, or spreading awareness, you have the power to support OPWF's vision of empowering Parkinson's warriors.

By joining this mission, you're not just supporting individuals—you're building a stronger, more resilient community that refuses to be defined by a diagnosis, instead choosing to fight, adapt, and forge ahead with courage and hope.

Our future goals include:

“We call ourselves warriors because we’re courageous and steadfast in our mission to knock out the progression of Parkinson’s disease. We know our obstacles and don’t give in to fear! We have personal integrity, optimism and strong camaraderie—a commitment to our fellow warriors. We hold life as precious and worth protecting.”

Blue Spirit, our miniature dachshund, is more than just a friendly face—he’s the heart and soul of Warriors Gym. Born on March 13, 2021, Blue brings boundless energy, joy, and comfort to everyone who walks through our doors.

Blue’s favorite pastimes include playing catch, chasing squirrels, and even a little hockey—using his beloved ball, of course! He takes his role as gym greeter very seriously, welcoming every visitor with a wagging tail (and his ball in tow) and making sure to send them off with the same enthusiasm.

What makes Blue truly special is his unspoken connection with our Warriors. He has a knack for sensing when someone is having a tough day, staying close to offer silent support. And when it's time to train, he instinctively retreats to his bed in the office, waiting patiently until class is over—then reemerging to say his goodbyes and receive well-earned belly rubs.

Whether he’s bringing smiles, companionship, or a little extra motivation, Blue Spirit embodies the warmth and resilience of our community.
